Bachelor Biography
Ryan Beckett became a member of Bachelor Nation in 2015 as a suitor on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette.
For Beckett, a realtor from Florida, his time on The Bachelor franchise was a long time coming. He caught the attention of producers at an open call for The Bachelor years prior when he attended as a “wingman” for a friend. He was originally cast in Jillian Harris’ 2009 season but had to opt-out.
“The older I get, the more I believe that things happen for a reason,” he told the Palm Beach Post. “The timing was better this time.”
He also ended up joining a historic season of the show, as for the first time, ABC cast two Bachelorettes: Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Byrne. It was up to the men to decide who they wanted to stay with and take the reigns as the show lead. Beckett was team Bristowe, and that’s who ultimately became the Bachelorette.
“The process was stressful, and I’m not an actor, so I don’t know if I could have been as enthusiastic if it were Britt,” he said.
Beckett lasted four weeks on the show before being sent home. He says he wishes he opened up more during his time on the show.
“I would not be so guarded,” Beckett said. “I think that in real life, I’m a little more guarded.”
Beckett got a second chance at love the following year on Bachelor in Paradise season three, where he also remained on the show for four weeks before going home.
“Both times I had trepidation about doing the shows, and I had these epiphanies last minute, in the 11th hour of making the decision, that on your deathbed you regret more things that you didn’t do than things that you did do,” he said of the show in an interview with Sidelines Magazine. “I believe in putting yourself out there and not taking yourself too seriously. So I went for it again, and again I had a blast; it was great.”
Where is he now?
Though Beckett didn’t find love on reality TV, he did make some great friends. On The Bachelorette, he says he actually spent more time with the guys than with Bristowe.
“We’re sequestered, no phones, no TV, nothing, so you get pretty close. It becomes like a fraternity pledge class,” he told the Palm Beach Post after the show. “It’s a highly stressful situation, and everyone’s out of their comfort zone. So when you’re sequestered like that, you’re bonding in dog years. It happens really fast.”
Beckett says he’s gotten together with several of the guys after the show.
“The best thing that came out of it was I made some of the best friends that I have, even though I didn’t end up engaged — and maybe that was a win,” he told Sidelines Magazine.
Today, Beckett is a doctoral student at Rollins College, according to his Instagram bio. He continues to work in Real Estate as a broker and founder of BitReality, a cryptocurrency brokerage.
