Bachelor Biography
Nathan Baake became a member of Bachelor Nation in 2012 as a cast member on Emily Maynard’s season of The Bachelorette. Baake, an accountant from Los Angeles, was on the show for four weeks before Maynard sent him home.
“Even though I know I’m making the right decision, it doesn’t make it any easier having to look at someone and tell them that they’re not for you,” Maynard said. “Nate cried about missing his family. It was so sweet and so endearing, but at the same time, I think that Nate is still really young. He admitted himself that he hasn’t had a whole lot of life experiences and hey, that’s a big part of maturity.”
Maynard was a single mom when she went on the show and Baake said he wasn’t quite ready to have a child.
“I didn’t feel that connection needed to want to spend the rest of your life with someone, and apparently she felt the same way. I want to be a father more than anything in the world and I want to have kids with the girl of my dreams, but I want that maybe down the road,” he explained. “I would ideally want to travel and experience more of the world before I go down the path of fatherhood.”
In an interview after the show, Baake said the fact he was so out of his comfort zone made it difficult to forge a real relationship.
“The first few times we spoke, I was so out of my element. I’m sitting next to Emily Maynard (literally star struck), with a bunch of cameras in my face, and probably the most nervous I have ever been in my life,” he said. “After a few times in front of the camera, things got easier and I feel like things started to click. But overall, I just found it extremely difficult to find a true connection given the circumstances of the show.”
Where is he know?
Though Baake said he would consider going on The Bachelor again to find love, he never went back on the franchise.
However, Baake found his happily-ever-after when he met Sam Bartley in 2013, a year after The Bachelorette. The couple married in Palm Springs, CA in 2018.
