Bachelor Biography
Anthony Battle joined Bachelor Nation as a suitor on Rachel Lindsay’s 2013 season of The Bachelorette.
Battle, an education software manager from Chicago and former Northwestern University football player, has a background in doing adventurous things: he taught English in Indonesia after graduation and spent nine months in Côte d’Ivoire as a Fulbright Scholar. So, it wasn’t out of character for him to apply to find love on reality television.
“Coming out of the limo, it was extremely surreal,” Battle said in an interview with The Daily Northwestern. “That scene is just iconic and to find myself in the middle of a dream was very strange…But once I stepped outside, I was looking at Rachel and…I just had to go on autopilot and live in that moment.”
Lindsay chose him as her second one-on-one date, and they went horseback riding in Beverly Hills. Battle made it five weeks on the show before being sent home.
“Going into the Rose Ceremony, I felt like I was moving forward without any remaining questions,” Lindsay wrote in her People blog. “Saying goodbye to Anthony and Josiah was really difficult, but I knew it was the right thing to do.”
Battle thanked Lindsay for the experience, and said after the show he enjoyed forming friendships with the other guys in the house.
Where is he now?
Post-reality TV, Battle told The Daily Northwestern he was exploring opportunities in the entertainment industry in podcasting and writing.
“(I’m) kind of just getting in that space of using my voice, my words (and) my face in different ways to create content that is meaningful to me,” he said.
Battle said that in the future, he wants to become a professor and author. To read some of his writing and thoughts, you can follow him on Instagram at @siranthonybattle.
