Bachelor Alum Sean Lowe Rushed to ER After Dog Attack

Sean Lowe, best known for his time on The Bachelor, recently endured a terrifying ordeal when his rescue dog, Moose, attacked him multiple times, sending him to the emergency room. The reality star, who met his wife Catherine Giudici on season 17 of The Bachelor in 2013, opened up about the traumatic experience in a social media video, revealing shocking details about the incident.

The first attack happened last Thursday while Bachelor alum, Sean Lowe, was hosting a barbecue with friends. Smoke from the grill triggered a loud smoke alarm, prompting Sean Lowe to wave a dish rag near the detector to clear the air. However, this seemingly harmless action unexpectedly set off Moose.

“Moose comes up and, like, bites it and kind of nips my finger really aggressively, which is something that he does not do,” Sean Lowe explained. What started as a minor nip quickly escalated. “He was biting my feet so hard, he actually put holes in my shoes, and it was hurting my feet,” Sean Lowe continued. When he firmly told Moose “no,” the dog bared its teeth and launched into a full attack.

“I mean, attacks me. And I feel him just kind of ripping into the flesh of my arm,” Sean Lowe recalled. He fought desperately to fend off the dog and managed to force Moose outside. However, the relief was short-lived as the dog returned for a second attack.

Lowe, who had bonded closely with Moose over the past three months, was left shocked by the violent turn. “We’ve only had him for a little under three months, but, like, he’s my dog,” he said. “I walk him. If I run errands, he goes in the truck with me. When I get out of my chair, my kids don’t like it, because he follows me. He doesn’t follow them. Like, it’s my dog.”

After finally getting Moose outside a second time, Lowe discovered the most serious injury yet—a deep wound in his arm with “blood squirting, probably a couple feet squirting.” He feared an artery had been severed and immediately called for help. His friends rushed him to the hospital, where he received stitches in five or six places on his arm.

The next morning, as Lowe grappled with what to do about Moose, another horrifying incident occurred. While putting his kids into the car with his parents, Moose launched another attack.

“You know, going through a dog attack is pretty darn traumatic,” Lowe admitted. “Having to relive it less than 12 hours later, seeing that dog running straight at you is a feeling that I don’t think I ever want to experience again.”

This time, Lowe managed to wrestle the dog to the ground and hold it until police arrived. He firmly believed that, had he lost control, Moose could have killed him or a family member.

“I’ve got a hold of his collar, but I know that he’s ripped my arm open,” Lowe said. “And I just know, like, I’m fighting for my life here, like, I feel like, If this dog gets up, he is going to kill me.”

Following the harrowing ordeal, Lowe found himself wondering why the smoke alarm seemed to have triggered Moose’s aggression. The dog had previously been gentle, even sleeping alongside Lowe’s children at night.

“I’m grateful it happened the way it did,” Lowe said. “He was a really, really good dog, and we miss him.”
