In anticipation of the second season to the hit Netflix series Arcane, based on the hit game League of Legends, let’s look back at the most important moments from the first season.
***This article contains spoilers from the first season of Arcane***
Ekko vs. Jinx (Ep. 7 The Boy Savior)
Helping his friend Vi, voiced by Hailee Steinfield, from Pitch Perfect, Ekko covers her and Caitlyn’s retreat, deciding to fight Jinx on the bridge to Piltover. This moment found later in the series, was beautifully animated and is fluid much like the rest of the show. It stands out as such an important moment as this is when Ekko, voiced by Shannon Reed, comes face to face with his childhood friend Jinx, voiced by Ella Purnell, who plays Lucy in the recent Amazon Prime Video series, Fallout. This fight is unique as it shows the two characters as children, before cutting the music and flashy colors, before Ekko beats Jinx to the ground.
Viktor’s Legs and Sky’s Death (Ep. 8 Oil and Water)
Nearing the end of the first season of Arcane, many important events take place in this episode of Arcane. In this scene Viktor, voiced by Harry Lloyd, known from Game of Thrones, uses the Hexcore in an attempt to cure his disease. Despite all the other characters that have warned him against this, he chooses to attempt using it after actually being able to run. When he tries using the Hexcore, Viktors assistant Sky, voiced by Kimberly Brooks, tragically dies protecting him. She does this out of the love and admiration she had for Viktor.

Vi abandons Powder (Ep. 3 The Base Violence Necessary For Change)
While this moment was early in Arcane, it serves as one of the most important, killing off multiple characters such as Mylo, voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, and Claggor, by Roger Craig Smith. They were killed due to the explosion caused by a bomb built by Powder. Vi ends up leaving Powder to be taken in by the main antagonist Silco, which leads to her becoming Jinx. This scene also leaves us believing that the beloved character and father figure to the children, Vander, voiced by JB Blanc, dies as well. This is now changed as it is believed he will return as a character from the game, League of Legends, known as Warwick.

Jinx Fires Hextech Missile (Ep. 9 The Monster You Created)
Arguably the biggest and most impactful moment for Arcane overall, was the final scene where Jinx fires a catastrophic missile into the council in Piltover, just as the votes have been casted which would have brought about peace. We do not see the aftermath of this even as the first season of Arcane ends right then and there. But it is in that moment that left fans wanting so much more. We are not certain which characters who were attacked by Jinx were actually killed. However many important characters were present, such as Jayce, Viktor, and Mel, and more.
While fans eagerly await the second season of Arcane, we are left only with hopes, theories, and excitement for the beautiful animation, thrilling actions, and characters we grew to love in the first season. The second season will premiere in three parts on November 9, 16, and 23 of 2024 on Netflix.
