Since Disney+ was created in 2019, there have been many shows we can’t get enough of. This year Disney+ will see some new shows and the return of fan favorites; here’s what we have to look forward to!
Loki Season 2
Loki will be released in a new season this summer, as confirmed at San Diego’s Comic-Con by Marvel Studios. This announcement comes a month after the show’s filming started. The titular character, Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston will be returning, as well as Sophia Di Martino who plays Sylvie.
We will also be seeing Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius and Jonathon Majors as Kang the Conqueror, who is a variant of He Who Remains. There will also be new faces such as Kate Dickie from Game of Thrones and Ke Huy Quan, star of Everything Everywhere All at Once. From last season, fans were left on a cliffhanger, and this season what we can expect is Loki taking “a leap into the unknown with the Multiverse fully establish and a war on the cusp of breaking out….”
While there is no official trailer for the new season, on December 19th, 2022, Disney Plus uploaded a video called Streaming in 2023 | Feels Like Home | Disney+ which is narrated by Tom Hiddleston and shows a few snippets of clips from Loki season 2.
With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the post-credit scene gives a big answer to one of the Loki mysteries. Fans have taken to Twitter to share their feelings about the upcoming season and the post-credit reveal.

American Born Chinese
The really great thing about this new series is that it is based on the graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang American Born Chinese. It is a live-action series that tells the story of an average teenager, Jian Wang, who is learning how to juggle his school, social, and home life. When one day he meets a foreign student on the first day of school and suddenly Jin is caught up in a battle with Chinese Mythical Gods.
The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu, and James Wong, people are calling it “a mini Everything Everywhere All at Once reunion.” According to Deadline, the series will be shown in March at the South by Southwest Film Festival. The show is set to release sometime this spring, with no official date just yet, but eventually will release to the rest of the world.
Disney+ has released a lot of content relating to the show, whether it be features of interviews with cast members or even teasers. On February 10th, they released Locker Reveal | American Born Chinese | Disney+. You can view more on their Youtube channel.

So far, the details about the cast include Ncuti Gatwa, who will star as the 15th Doctor as the successor to David Tennant’s second time on the show. Along with this return, Catherine Tate will be returning as The Doctor’s companion, Donna Noble. Tennant will return as the lead role for a few special episodes. Gatwa is set to take over after Tennant’s three-episode run starting in 2023.
Fans have had mixed emotions about the return of the show with some loving Disney for making a BBC show streamable worldwide, but a lot of other fans of the show are nervous about what will happen to Dr. Who now that Disney+ has the rights.
Love Dr Who, haven’t seen it in a couple years but know the new season is coming to Disney Plus in Canada, I’m excited and hoping the older seasons come too
