ANSON’S BIO: Anson Adams Mount IV (born February 25, 1973) is an American actor who has appeared in both movies and television shows and is best known for playing Cullen Bohannon in the AMC show Hell on Wheels.
Mount has also played Jim Steele on the short-lived NBC series Conviction and appeared in the independent movie Tully with Julianne Nicholson, as the title character Tully Coates, a playboy whose ways are changed when he meets Ella Smalley (Nicholson), a friend of his brother.
Mount was born in Prospect Heights, Illinois and grew up in the small town of White Bluff, Tennessee. His mother, Nancy Smith, is a former professional golfer. His father, Anson Adams Mount II, was one of the original contributing editors to Playboy magazine. Anson has an older brother Anson Adams III and a sister Kristin from his father’s first marriage. His great-great-great grandfather was a Confederate cavalry colonel in the Civil War.
Mount attended Dickson County Senior High School in Dickson, Tennessee, The University of the South and Columbia University. At The University of the South, Mount was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
