Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther, will be creating a TV show set in Wakanda for Disney+.
Wakanda is back, you guys!
This is happening thanks to a five-year deal between Disney and Coolger’s Proximity Media. The deal will allow Coogler to have a hand in other MCU shows as well.
Coogler is currently writing the sequel for Black Panther, which starred late actor Chadwick Boseman. Fans suspect that the Wakanda series will be utilized as a way to supplement the films and have additional world-building outside of the movies. Kevin Feige, who has announced that around 10 shows will debut in the next few years, really wants the Disney+ shows and the films to weave in and out in order to create a larger world.
With this in mind, fans are excited about the announcement and have their own theories concerning what the show will be about:
Twitter user @supermangeek101 loves the world of Wakanda and wants to know more about the Dora Milaje:
@imdownbadfr thinks the history of Wakanda would make an amazing show:

@MJL_Uncensored thinks it would be cool to set it inbetween Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame:
Another fun idea that @claudethewriter has is for the show to go a meta route:
However, @BrandonDavisBD is sharing a sentiment that many fans feel: excitement about the announcement, but a sense of mourning at Chadwick’s absence.
Many fans believe that this series will honor Boseman’s legacy and the impact he has had on so many people. Regardless, we cannot wait to hear more about the new show and the future of the MCU!
