8 True Crime Podcasts You Have To Check Out!

True crime podcasts are intriguing and frightening at the same time, which is what makes them extremely fun to listen to.  Today we’re going to be looking at eight true crime podcasts you need to add to your list!

Podcasts have increased in popularity over the past few years.  With the rise in popularity, the genre of true crime has been gaining a lot of attention amongst listeners.  That being said, let’s look at some of the true crime podcasts that have taken the world by storm.  

Serial

This is widely accredited as being the podcast that made listening to true crime more popular than ever before.  This podcast is unique because it follows a similar format to a television show.  When this podcast came out, they released new episodes each week and the same crime was discussed for the entire season of the show.

This podcast doesn’t have seasons, unlike the previous one we mentioned.  This podcast usually tells a crime story within an episode or two.  A unique element that this podcast has is that it dives deep into the psychology behind what is going on in the minds of the criminals.

Solved Murders: True Crime Stories 

This podcast is hosted by Wenndy Mackenzie and Carter Roy.  As the title suggests, they only talk about cases that have already been solved.  Listeners get to find out about the crime and soon after they get to find out who the culprit was.

Unsolved Murders: True Crime Stories 

This podcast is from the makers of Solved Murders and it’s also hosted by the same two people, Wenndy Mackenzie and Carter Roy, who continue to do a marvelous job at telling a thrilling storyline, but with a slightly different ending.  For those of you that like even more mystery and suspense, you should check out this podcast because it always ends with viewers not knowing who committed the crime.

Criminal Couples 

This podcast is unique because it tells the story of couples who committed violent acts together.  It’s unusual to hear stories of two people who love each other and who also happen to love committing crimes together.  It’s very interesting to learn about how these couples work together to pull off hideous acts.

Crime Junkie

This podcast is unique because it’s a lot less formal than the other ones we have mentioned.  The podcast is hosted by two best friends and this connection can be felt while listening to each episode.  If you’re looking for a podcast that feels more authentic and less scripted, you should check it out!

My Favorite Murder

The hosts for this podcast are two comedians, which makes the feel of this podcast very different from the rest.  This podcast brings a funny element to this often grim genre, which is refreshing to listen to.  Listen to this podcast if you want a good laugh while still learning about crimes that have happened throughout history.

Dateline NBC

This is the podcast version of the Dateline television series.  The podcast is much like the television show in the sense that it’s very well put together.  The podcast is just as exciting as the television show and it makes for an enjoyable listening experience.

True crime podcasts are very popular right now and for a good reason, they are extremely fascinating.  While all of these podcasts that we mentioned fall within the true crime genre, each podcast has their own style and flow.
