When midnight hit on November 1st, Mariah Carey made it clear to all of us around the world that the most wonderful time of the year has returned. While some may already have their Christmas decor hanging all around the house, others wait until Turkey day passes to get into the holiday spirit, but one thing everyone can agree upon is it is cuffing season! See below the eight rom-coms on Netflix that you can watch to get into the spirit of love and the holidays!
Christmas With You
If you’re looking for a spark between a music teacher and a pop singer, then baby Christmas With You is the movie you should stream when snuggling next to the one. Freddie Prinze Jr. makes his comeback to the rom-com genre in this film and has aged like fine wine.
Christmas With You revolves around pop singer Angelina (Aimee Garcia) whose career falls on the line when she doesn’t bring in a jolly hit. As the singer scrolls down her social media feed, she sees a young fan named Christina performing one of her songs and sharing that her ideal Christmas gift would be meeting her icon face-to-face. When she comes to grant Christina her Christmas wish, she meets her single father Michael ( Prinze Jr.) and the two co-write a song together. Along the way, the two find love within one another.
You can stream this Christmas tune in front of a cozy fire while drinking some eggnog on November 17th.
A Perfect Pairing
What perfect way to get into the spirit of cuffing season than to watch a movie that has “a perfect pair” in the title? Are you willing to make the long distance work?
A Perfect Pairing follows Lola Alverez (Victoria Justice) who is the star seller at her cutthroat LA-based wine importing company and she’s gunning for the regional sales director title. But after her best friend steals her proposed Australian client and her boss deems the move fair play, Lola quits in a rage and decides to open her own outfit. After quitting and having no clients, she decides to travel Down Under to the celebrity-owned Vaughn Family Wines where she tries to win over the owner by toiling away on their farm.
Although she is there to focus on her clientele and business, she ends up running into Max (Adam Demos) and the sparks fly from there. A Perfect Pairing brings all of the classic elements of a rom-com: a fish out of water story, two opposites attracted to one another, and a very lush, beautiful setting.
If you’re looking to be brought back into the early 2000’s rom-com era, get yourself a glass of wine and press start on your remote control!
The Noel Diary
If you thought Justin Hartley was done pulling out our heartstrings with the ending of This Is Us back in May… well think again.
The Noel Diary is an adaptation of the best-selling book by the same name written by Richard Paul Evans. The film explores how “a man returning home at his mother’s death around Christmas and while exploring his own past, falls in love with a family acquaintance.” The film also stars Golden Globe nominee Bonnie Bedelia and another Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Treat Williams.
Make sure for this Netflix and chill that you come prepared with a box of tissues and a shoulder to cry on. The Noel Diary can be streamed on November 24th.
Look Both Ways
When it comes to falling in love, making decisions, or anything else in life there is always that one question of “what if” you were to do something differently. Look Both Ways plays with this question as Lili Reinhart stars as the lead role.
This film explores Natalie (Reinhart) on the eve of college graduation as her life diverges into parallel realities: one in which she becomes pregnant and remains in her hometown to raise her child and another in which she moves to LA to pursue her dream career. Throughout the film, the viewer is brought into both universes in a so-called “sliding-door” effect. The movie brings along the love of friendship, family, and two potential love interests when it comes to both sides of the situation.
You’ll have to watch the ending to find out what lies in Reinhart’s fate. Look Both Ways is available to stream now.
Falling For Christmas
Everyone stay calm because all of our Christmas wishes have come true. Lindsay Lohan has made it back to the big screen and we are all here living for it!
The film explores the days leading up to Christmas, as a young and newly engaged heiress experiences a skiing accident. After being diagnosed with amnesia, she finds herself in the care of the handsome lodge owner and his daughter. Lohan’s love interest is played by no one other than Chord Overstreet, known for his iconic role as Sam Evans on Glee.
If you want to feel like you have been brought back a decade to Lohan singing Jingle Bell Rock, tune into her new hit Jingle Bell Rock that is featured in the film! You can stream Falling For Christmas now.
Wedding Season
You know a rom-com has a great ending when it involves a little secret between the two main characters. Wedding Season explores this subject by having our leads pretend to be in a relationship to please their parents! If you’re looking for a perfect way to have your parents stay out of your love life, then this is the film for you!
Wedding Season revolves around Asha and Ravi being pressured by their parents to find spouses. The two decide to pretend to date during a summer of weddings, only to find themselves falling for each other. The film also takes a different approach to the Indian American lifestyle of arranged marriages. Wedding Season is so much more interesting in showing that Indian Americans with unconventional interests and jobs are still worthy of love — that biodatas boasting ivy league degrees and high-powered jobs shouldn’t rule the world.
If you want to laugh along and watch this secret unfold with your significant other, go ahead and grab that bowl of popcorn as you lounge in this rom-com currently streaming.
Single All the Way
You know that you will be laughing until your stomach hurts when Jennifer Coolidge and Jennifer Robertson (Schitt’s Creek) make an appearance together in this film. Single All the Way explores the rom-com world of another secret relationship between two best friends around the holidays! If you’re looking for a rom-com that has a same-sex couple love story then hop on this sleigh ride!
Single All the Way explores when Peter becomes desperate to avoid his family’s judgment about his perpetual single status, he convinces his best friend Nick to join him for the holidays and pretend that they’re now in a relationship. The best rom-coms are always the ones where the two best friends turn into lovers. Although this film was released in 2021, it’s always a good throwback to go watch during this cuffing season.
Hello, Goodbye, And Everything In Between
Although all rom-coms revolve around bringing the spark together, Hello, Goodbye, And Everything In Between does the complete opposite.
Hello, Goodbye, And Everything In Between delves into after making a pact to break up before college, Claire (Talia Ryder) and Aidan (Jordan Fisher) retrace the steps of their relationship on one last epic date, revisiting familiar and unexpected places as they question: stay together or say goodbye forever? The film explores if this couple should risk it all and stay together as they venture off into their paths of adulthood. Jennifer Robertson also stars in the role of Claire’s mother.
If you’re looking for a film where your relationship is all put into question, then this twist of a rom-com is just what you should be watching. Hello, Goodbye, And Everything In Between is available now for streaming.
Whether it be around the holidays or just your everyday love story, rom-coms are the perfect film to get in the mood for Netflix and chilling. Make sure this cuffing season you are celebrating the right way, whether that be by laughing, crying, or doing both simultaneously.
