7 Must-Watch Thanksgiving Episodes From Animated Sitcoms

Adult animation as a genre has been captivating fans for years and like traditional sitcoms they don’t shy away from holiday-themed episodes. Here are 7 Thanksgiving episodes from adult animated comedies that you must watch!

“An Indecent Thanksgiving Proposal” Season 3 Episode 5 – Bob’s Burgers

No one does Thanksgiving like the Belcher family. As it is Bob Belcher (H. Jon Benjamin)’s favorite holiday, he puts in a lot of effort to make the day special. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always happen, and in this episode. Specifically, Bob is left on the outskirts as his landlord Mr. Fischoeder (Kevin Kline) enlists the other Belcher’s help to reunite him with an old flame by pretending to be his family. The entire episode is incredibly silly and puts a twist on Thanksgiving episodes by making the day a background in a bigger plot line.

The Simpsons traditionally run a scary episode during Halloween, but in season 31 they did one for Thanksgiving. The episode consists of three stories that show how horrific Thanksgiving can be. The first shows Thanksgiving from the perspective of a turkey. The others take a look at the future one where Marge (Julie Kavner) is replaced with AI and another is a post-apocalyptic Thanksgiving. Despite the absurd plot lines the episode still manages to be lighthearted and fun.

“There Will Be Bad Blood” Season 6 Episode 6 – American Dad

Stan (Seth McFarlane) invites his half-brother Rusty (Lou Diamond Phillips) over for Thanksgiving every year to gloat about his wealth. It turns out, however, that Rusty is also a millionaire. The episode soon becomes an obvious allegory for the history of Thanksgiving as it ends with Stan taking Rusty’s land after feeling as though he doesn’t deserve to be rich.

“Black Friday” Season 17 Episode 7 – South Park

South Park takes a turn in their Thanksgiving episode in season 17, by making the episode about the day after instead. “Black Friday” provides a different commentary on the holidays by highlighting the ridiculous nature of the day. Full of gory and insane references to Game of Thrones, this episode will have you laughing out loud about the insane tradition of Black Friday

“Happy Hank’s Giving” Season 4 Episode 7 – King of the Hill

Traveling last minute is a holiday staple and this Thanksgiving-based episode shows just that. The Hill family is rushing to the airport to spend Thanksgiving with Peggy (Kathy Najimy)’s mother, but they get caught up in the Holiday rush. The episode shows the Hills and the other stranded families coming together as they might have to spend Thanksgiving in the airport and it is both heartwarming and hilarious.

“A Brown Thanksgiving” Season 1 Episode 7 – The Cleveland Show

The Cleveland Show was a spin-off for Family Guy, and A Brown Thanksgivingwhich gave Clevland (Mike Henry) the chance to spend Thanksgiving with his new family was a weird episode, but also heartwarming. What is supposed to be a fun holiday takes unexpected turns as Cleveland ruins the dinner table, Federline’s car is stolen, and it’s revealed that Donna’s relatives had gender-reaffirming surgery. Still the episode shows a family coming together.
