From The Summer I Turned Pretty to The School of Good and Evil, we are so excited to see our favorite books and series being adapted into movies and tv shows.
From the Hunger Games movies to the Shadow and Bone Netflix series, we have seen our favorite characters translated onto our big and small screens. There are now so many more books and series that are in production currently for their own movies and shows, and we’ve rounded up the 6 that we are most excited for.
The Summer I Turned Pretty
This series by Jenny Han follows Isabel “Belly” Conklin, who spends her summers at Cousin’s Beach with her mother and older brother, as well as with her mother’s best friend and her sons. The television series is currently in production, with newcomer Lola Tung as Belly, and is set to release on Amazon this summer.

Uglies
The Uglies trilogy, written by Scott Westerfeld, tells the story of teenager Tally Youngblood who rebels against society’s enforced conformity, after her friends reveal the downsides to becoming a “Pretty.” The Netflix movie adaptation starring Joey King wrapped its filming in December of 2021, but a release date has yet to be announced.

They Both Die At The End
This novel by Adam Silvera focuses on two teenage boys, Mateo and Rufus, who discover that they only have one day left to live and decide to spend what little time they have left with each other. Entertainment One currently holds the rights to this book and is currently in the early stages of developing the story into a television series.

The Selection
Kiera Cass’ Selection series follows the story of America Singer, who is competing against 34 other girls to live in a palace and to capture the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. Though talk of the series being adapted has been going on for years, things are looking hopeful for a Netflix movie. Production is currently in the early stages of development.

The School for Good and Evil
This novel written by Soman Chainani shares the adventures of best friends Sophie and Agatha as they are kidnapped to the School for Good and Evil and have to figure out a way to return home. The movie adaptation stars Sophia Anne Caruso as Sophie and Sofia Wylie as Agatha. It is set to release on Netflix this year.

Percy Jackson
Rick Riordan’s beloved series tells the story of a 12-year-old demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. The series is being turned into a Disney+ series, and has officially received the green light to move forward with the project.
