If you’re looking for a new show that gives you that perfect blend of comedy and drama, then High Potential should be at the top of your watchlist! Season 1 of ABC’s hit comedic crime procedural High Potential is airing now, and here are five reasons why you need to dive into this riveting series!
1: The Premise
If you’re a fan of quirky crime procedurals like Castle or Psych, then you’ll love High Potential! There are plenty of dark detective dramas on TV and streaming right now, but if you’re looking for that perfect blend of comedy and crime, High Potential is for you!
This new ABC series follows Morgan Gillory, a single mom of three who is a cleaning lady for the Los Angeles Police Department. Morgan also happens to be a high potential intellectual with an IQ of 160. After seeing mistakes on an evidence board and correcting them, Morgan is offered a consultant position at the LAPD to help them solve crimes with her unique mind. Morgan is anything but straight-laced, and she trades sarcastic barbs with her partner Detective Karadec.
High Potential was created by Drew Goddard, the executive producer of the Emmy-nominated comedy The Good Place, so you can trust that High Potential will be packed with clever jokes. With its blend of humor, heart, and mystery, High Potential is the perfect show to binge-watch on Hulu or Disney+, especially now that Only Murders in the Building has wrapped up its fourth season.

3: The Mystery
High Potential follows typical procedural drama form in that there is a new crime each episode, but there is an overarching mystery this season that fans are begging to be solved! Morgan’s ex Roman disappeared 15 years ago under mysterious circumstances, shortly after the birth of their daughter Ava. Morgan reported his disappearance at the time, but the LAPD thought he had just run away from being a father. Motivated to find answers for a now teenaged Ava , Morgan made Lieutenant Soto promise to look into the case before she agreed to work as a consultant for the force. So far this season, Soto has figured out there is definitely more to Roman’s disappearance than police initially thought. After locating Roman’s abandoned car, Soto discovered the diapers Roman had been sent out for were found in his car. Why would he buy the diapers if he was going to leave his family? Where did Roman go, or is he gone forever? You’ll have to tune in to High Potential to find out! This loss has motivated Morgan throughout the season to help others find answers, so we hope she’ll get some of her own!
I am fully invested in this “What Happened to Roman?” storyline. Another very good episode. Showed that every case won’t work out 100% perfectly. #HighPotential

Selena found out about Roman’s car being abandoned in the parking lot and in it was a bag of diapers! I’m really wondering was he mixed up in something Morgan didn’t know about 🤔 #HighPotential
