Where The Crawdads Sing is an upcoming film produced by Reese Witherspoon and based on a New York Times bestselling book AND features a song by Taylor Swift! If all of that didn’t convince you, here are some other reasons this is a must-watch!
Where The Crawdads Sing is an adaptation of the New York Times Bestselling Delia Owens novel and is coming to a theatre near you this month. The film, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, is one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2022. No matter who you are, this film is a must-see, and here’s why.
It’s Based on the “Defining Book of the Decade”
Delia Owens’ Where The Crawdads Sing is a record-breaking phenomenon that follows two timelines that slowly intertwine into one page-turning narrative. One timeline follows the young and abandoned “marsh girl”, Kya. The other chronicles an investigation into the Barkley Cove posterchild, Chase Andrews. Owen’s 2018 novel was named “Best Book of the Year” by The New York Times Book Review, Bloomberg, and USA Today, just to name a few. Just in case that didn’t convince you enough, the story is also Business Insider’s Defining Book of the Decade.
Reese’s Stamp of Approval
Where The Crawdads Sing was selected for inclusion in Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon’s book club in 2018.
In a statement, Reese said, “With a jaw-dropping mystery, stunning Southern setting, and endlessly fascinating female heroine at its center, I loved this book the moment I read it and am so excited to join forces with Elizabeth and her team to bring Delia’s truly moving page-turner to the screen.”
Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, puts women at the center of every story they create. Where The Crawdads Sing perfectly aligns with Witherspoon’s agenda, being written by a female author and featuring a female protagonist.
