5 Fun Facts of Lisa’s Rockstar Only Die-Hards Know

Following Lisa’s recent win for second Best K-POP trophy at the 2024 VMAs, Lisa’s Rockstar has captivated fans worldwide. Here are five fun facts and Easter eggs about the single that only die-hard lilies know!

The Blackpink superstar Lisa has embarked on an exciting solo journey since founding her own agency LLOUD in February 2024. Recently, Lisa captured attention with her new single “Rockstar”, alongside the collaboration single “New Woman” featuring Rosalía, and rocked the stage of VMAs once again. As her solo career takes off, here are five fun facts and hidden Easter eggs from “Rockstar” that highlight just how much depth and creativity she’s bringing to this new chapter.

A Song that Could Save Life

While this might not have been the original intention, Lisa’s “Rockstar – Slowed Down” matches the exact tempo for hands-only CPR, according to the American Heart Association. In an emergency, this song could help you stay on beat—but make sure you’re trained and prepared beforehand.

Tribute to Blackpink’s “Pink Venom”

Blackpink always has a special place in Lisa’s heart, and even as she embarks on her solo journey, her love for the group remains evident. The signature hand sign of “Rockstar” closely resembles the fang hand sign from Blackpink’s “Pink Venom” single. While it’s not officially confirmed as a tribute, the similarity hints at her ongoing appreciation for the group and her roots within it.

Empowering LGBT Representation in “Rockstar”

Originally from Thailand, Lisa has consistently contributed to supporting her roots and promoting inclusivity in the entertainment industry.  In a powerful move, Lisa featured three transgender influencers—Chinnawat Promsri, Bruze Kachi-Sarah, and Aëffy—in the “Rockstar” music video, coinciding with the recent legalization of LGBTQ+ marriage in Thailand this year. Additionally, the music video was filmed in Thailand and incorporated various elements of Thai culture, celebrating Lisa’s heritage while amplifying underrepresented voices and supporting the LGBTQ+ community

Tame Impala Sample in “Rockstar”

Many listeners quickly noticed that “Rockstar” might have sampled Tame Impala’s “New Person, Same Old Mistakes”. The dreamy, psychedelic tones from the original track blend effortlessly with Lisa’s bold sound. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time the song has been sampled—Rihanna also used it in her track “Same Ol’ Mistakes” on her ANTI album. Coincidentally, Lisa posted a photo with Rihanna in January 2024, making this connection even more special.

3 More Songs to Come??

If you’ve been following Lisa and watching the music videos of “Rockstar” and “New Woman”, you may have noticed the recurring star that appears almost everywhere in “Rockstar” related content — from Lisa’s VMAs performance to her tooth gem, and especially at the end of each music video. This star serves as a signature element and overarching concept for this album. Interestingly, when “Rockstar” was released, one point of the star lit up, followed by two points when “New Woman” was out. And in her recent tease for “Moonlit Floor,” three points glowed. Now, with three new songs, including “Moonlit Floor” releasing on October 3rd, we have plenty to look forward to from Lisa
