Danny Boyle and Alex Garland reunite for 28 Years Later, unleashing a chilling new chapter of rage-fueled terror in theaters June 20.
The rage virus is back—and it’s more terrifying than ever. Sony Pictures has officially dropped the brand-new trailer for 28 Years Later, the long-awaited next chapter in the apocalyptic horror saga that began with the groundbreaking 28 Days Later. The film storms exclusively into theaters on June 20, 2025.
Reuniting Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle with Academy Award–nominated writer Alex Garland, 28 Years Later picks up nearly three decades after the virus first escaped a biological weapons lab and plunged the world into chaos. Though the infected still roam, survivors have carved out new ways to exist under the shadow of a ruthlessly maintained quarantine.
At the heart of this latest story is a small group of survivors isolated on an island, protected from the mainland by a single, heavily guarded causeway. But when one of their own ventures beyond the safety of their enclave, he stumbles into a terrifying new reality—one where both the infected and the living have evolved in disturbing, unpredictable ways.
Produced by Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, Bernard Bellew, Danny Boyle, and Alex Garland, and executive produced by none other than 28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy, the film promises to dive even deeper into the brutal consequences of survival.
The star-studded cast includes Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and Ralph Fiennes, all set to bring new dimensions to a world teetering between decay and resilience.
28 Years Later is not yet rated by the Motion Picture Association. For future rating information, visit www.filmratings.com.
Fans of the original saga can now download the newly released trailer and get a terrifying taste of what’s to come. One thing is clear: time hasn’t healed anything.
