If you’re anything like me, one of your many hobbies is obsessing over every celebrity’s tattoos. Some of these tattoos seem strange from the outside looking in, but many of the celebrities hold very significant meanings behind their tattoos. Here’s a few of our favorites!
Harry Styles

Harry Styles has tons of tattoos. Some of them are silly, like the one he got on The Late Late Show with James Cordon for losing a game on the show. Others may look peculiar, but there is much more than what meets the eye. Styles has a tattoo on his forearm of a mermaid. This mermaid doesn’t quite fit the ideals of perfection as defined by society. Once a fan asked Styles why the mermaid was drawn with “saggy boobs.” Styles replied, “ Everyone should love themselves for how they are. They shouldn’t strive for perfection.” We’re not quite sure if Styles got this tattoo originally with the thought of loving your imperfections, but it seems it has developed a beautiful meaning.

Demi Lovato has had quite a few struggles throughout their time of fame. One of the biggest struggles was with drug addiction. Lovato was sober for many years, but then relapsed. They owned up to this and revealed their relapsing struggle with the song “Sober”. Throughout this process, they and many people on their team got a tattoo that says “free.”

Selena Gomez was an executive producer on the Netflix series Thirteen Reasons Why. This show touched on a lot of serious subjects, including suicide and mental illness. Gomez, along with many cast members, got a tattoo of a semicolon on themselves. This tattoo supports the Semicolon Project, which is a movement showing support for those dealing with issues including suicide, mental illness, and more.

Lindsay Lohan has quite a few tiny tattoos. One of her most meaningful of them all is probably the hardest to see. On her wrist, she has “breathe” written in white ink. Lohan had an asthma attack on New Year’s Eve in 2005 that put her in the hospital with a ruptured neck artery. Shortly after the incident, Lohan got the tattoo as a reminder to herself to physically breathe but also to slow down in life.

One of her largest pieces is on her rib cage. This tattoo is of the Egyptian Goddess Isis, representing the ideal mother. Rihanna attributed this tattoo to her late grandmother as her grandmother was the ideal woman and mother.

My personal favorite tattoo of his is at his waistline, stating “Almost Famous.” Baker has said that this tattoo is there to keep him humble as he rises to fame. Many of his tattoos serve as reminders of where he is from and how far he has come.
