Sometimes TV breakups hurt more than real-life ones, and these were some of the most gut-wrenching ones in TV history.
Brooke and Lucas on One Tree Hill (Season 4, Episode 1)
The honesty and realness Brooke had in this scene made it hurt that much more. Mainly because she stood her ground and said what was needed to be said, and Lucas could only say, “I’m sorry.”
Nick and Jess on New Girl (Season 3, Episode 20)
It’s always so sad seeing a fun and loving relationship end, but in all honesty, it was nice to see their friendship blossom again.
Alex and Jo on Grey’s Anatomy (Season 16, Episode 16)
This one made it impossible to hold any tears back. As much as everyone liked Alex and Izzy together, Jo deserved way more than Alex gave her. The hurt Jo felt while reading his letter was way too relatable.
Eric and Adam on Sex Education (Season 3, Episode 8)
What Eric did was truly awful, and I honestly think Adam will have such a hard time recovering from this. Adam had so many issues in his life, and I think he tried his best for Eric, but it was never good enough for him.
Barney and Robin on How I Met Your Mother (Season 7, Episode 10)

The fact that Barney was able to show his hurt through one look rather than his words shows just how destroyed he was. His priorities were different than Robin’s, and it wasn’t fair to him to go through all that hurt just for her to let him down.
Santana and Brittany on Glee (Season 4, Episode 4)

They were so cute together, and it’s awful when something like long-distance is the reason couples break up. It was evident how much they cared for each other, which made our souls hurt even more.
Blair and Chuck on Gossip Girl (Season 3, Episode 17)

Definitely one of their worst breakups, Blair found out one of the most selfish things Chuck has ever done to her, and it cut way too deep for him to forgive him.
Ross and Rachel on Friends (Season 3, Episode 15)
This was such a messy breakup and left so many people picking sides. Sadly, this scene is such a reality for many couples, which makes it relatable in the worst way possible.
Jane and Michael on Jane The Virgin (Season 1, Chapter 6)
There were so many new complications in Jane’s life, but Michael deserved so much better. I think he truly loved her and was ready to try and make it work, but she wanted new opportunities that Michael would have kept her from.

I think we all know this one, and seriously, nothing could have hurt more, and so early on in the series too! We should have known Shonda was going to keep breaking our hearts in the seasons to come.
